Roland Flint (1934-2001 )
poet. Flint, born in North Dakota, was educated at the University of
North Dakota and has taught poetry at George Town University. For 36 years,
Dr. Flint has shared with students his love of poetry. It is a love that
has led him to read aloud in elementary schools, in prisons and on ABC's
``Nightline.'' It has driven him to publish seven books of poems. Those
are:
And morning (1975); Say It (1975); Resuming green : selected poems,
1965-1982 (1983); Sicily (1991); Pigeon (1991); Easy (1999).
In recognition of his accomplishments, Gov. Parris N. Glendening announced
his appointment as the Maryland state's poet laureate in 1995.
