* DIAL-UP PPP ACCESS HELP: SAILOR CRUISE ACCOUNTS

WHAT ARE SAILOR CRUISE ACCOUNTS?

Sailor Cruise Accounts are a 90-day graphical dial-up Internet accesss service from Sailor for qualified Maryland Public Library customers of participating Maryland Public Libraries.

Sailor Cruise Accounts are the second generation free Internet dial-up access service from the Sailor Project. The original service, introduced in 1994, was a text-based vt100 access service that was discontinued in July 2006. Sailor Cruise Accounts were introduced in July 1999 as the next step for the Sailor Project in bridging the digital divide for Maryland residents.
BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT SAILOR CRUISE ACCOUNTS

  1. Eligibility Requirements: You must be at least 18 years old and have a valid and library card in good standing issued by the participating public library system where you are submitting your request.

  2. Sailor Cruise Account Request Form: Sailor Cruise Account Request Forms are available at participating Maryland Public Library branches. Complete the front of the form and sign the Acceptable Use Agreement on the back. Then present your form and your library card at the Circulation Desk of the particpating branch where you got the form.

  3. Notification: The Sailor Help Desk will create an account for you when we receive your Request Form from the library where you submitted your form. This takes about one week. We will send an account holder packet for your account to the library branch where you filled in your request. That library will notify you when your packet is ready for pick up at that library. This will occur approximately two weeks after you submit your request.

  4. Expiration: You can expect 90 days' (13 weeks) use from your Cruise Account after which it will expire. Although Cruise Accounts cannot be renewed, you may sign up as many times as you like. Just remember you may have only one account at a time.
